NYC Birth Photographer with Certified Doula Support
Most photographers show up at your birth with a camera.
YourCherish shows up with a camera and 86 births of doula experience.
There is a specific kind of presence that changes what a birth photographer can do — and it comes from having stood in delivery rooms as a support person, not only as someone behind a lens. When you hire a certified doula who is also a documentary photographer, you get something that almost no one else in New York City offers.
What Makes This Different
A birth photographer's job is to capture what happens.
A doula's job is to support you while it happens — physically, emotionally, informationally.
When those two roles live in the same person, the session changes completely.
As your photographer and doula, Olga:
Arrives with the clinical knowledge of what's actually happening in your body during each stage of labor
Anticipates the moments that matter before they occur — not just reacting to them
Creates physical and emotional calm that allows the most authentic images to emerge
Can provide hands-on comfort measures during labor when not actively photographing
Speaks with your medical team in the language they use
Understands the difference between a moment that needs documenting and a moment that needs privacy
Never photographs something you wouldn't want photographed
The result is a body of images that is both technically excellent and emotionally true — because the person making them understood what was happening, not just what it looked like.
Who This Is For
This combined approach is right for you if:
You want full, continuous support during labor — not just someone photographing from across the room
You are delivering your first baby and want someone who can guide as well as document
You are planning an unmedicated or low-intervention birth and want active support alongside documentation
You want someone who can advocate for your birth preferences with your care team if needed
You want your partner to be fully present with you, not managing logistics or wondering what's normal
You've had a previous birth that felt underdocumented or where the images didn't capture what it actually felt like

About Olga Zinner
Olga Zinner is the founder of YourCherish — a DONA-certified birth doula, certified postpartum doula, and documentary photographer based in New York City.
She has attended 86+ births and served 48+ postpartum families across NYC hospitals including NYU Langone, Mount Sinai, Lenox Hill, New York-Presbyterian, Maimonides, Brooklyn Methodist, and beyond. She holds a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and brings that framework to every birth she attends — understanding the emotional architecture of labor, not only its physical stages.
She is multilingual in English, Russian, and Spanish.
She is the reason YourCherish exists as a combined service. The photography and the doula support are not separate offerings accidentally bundled together — they grew from the same conviction: that the people who attend birth should be fully present in it.

What Families Say About the Combined Experience
"Having Olga as both our doula and photographer meant we never had to manage two separate people or worry about whether our photographer was in the right place at the right moment. She knew exactly where to be and when. The photos look like she was invisible — because she was so completely part of what was happening." — Emma & David, delivered at NYU Langone / Tisch Hospital
"I had a long labor and was so grateful to have someone who could physically support me AND had a camera ready when our son was born. The images from those hours are extraordinary. The support during labor was extraordinary. I still don't know how one person does both." — Sarah, delivered at Mount Sinai Hospital
"What I didn't expect was how much Olga's doula training changed the photography itself. She knew when to be close and when to back away. She knew which moments mattered. The photos look like someone understood what was happening — not just watched it." — Melissa & Tom, delivered at Lenox Hill Hospital
Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from just hiring a birth photographer? A birth photographer documents. A doula supports. When the same person does both, you get documentation that is guided by genuine understanding of what's happening — and support from someone who also knows how to preserve the memory of it.
Can Olga truly do both during active labor? Yes. The two roles complement rather than conflict. During the most intense phases of labor, support takes priority — and those are also the moments that don't need a camera pointing at them. During quieter phases, documentation takes priority. Olga reads the room and shifts accordingly.
What if I want only photography, not doula support? We offer photography without doula support as a standalone service. Many families choose just the Fresh48 session — arriving after birth is complete. However, families who have experienced the combined offering consistently describe it as qualitatively different.
Do you also offer postpartum doula support? Yes. YourCherish offers birth doula support, postpartum doula support, and photography as separate or combined services. Reach out to discuss what combination fits your situation.
Does having a doula in the room affect the birth photography coverage? The opposite: it improves it. Olga's presence in the room as a support person means she is already in the right physical positions to capture the moments as they happen, rather than arriving as an outsider who needs to find their footing.
