We move quietly through your space for 1.5 to 2.5 hours, photographing what is already happening: your baby's face in those first hours, the way you and your partner hold them, the light in your room, the moments that pass so quickly they blur before you can name them.

We deliver your gallery within 5 to 7 business days, or rush delivery available — 10 to 30 fully edited images that preserve what those hours felt like.

  • Visitor access: Maimonides follows standard postpartum visitor protocols. When you're booked with us, we will guide you through exactly what to tell your care team on admission to ensure smooth access to the postpartum floor.

  • Room type: Maimonides has private and semi-private postpartum rooms. A private room allows the most relaxed session — if you have the option, we recommend requesting one.

  • Timing: Sessions typically begin 2 to 4 hours after you've moved to your postpartum room and had time to settle with your baby.

Maimonides has a high volume of both planned and emergency cesarean births. If you're delivering via C-section, your Fresh48 session absolutely goes forward — we simply adjust the timing.

Your surgery ends. You spend time in recovery. Once you're in your postpartum room and feel settled, you message us. We arrive within the hour and photograph your baby's first hours with you — the first real hold, the first skin-to-skin, the quiet early time that matters so much and disappears so fast.

Can I book a Fresh48 session in advance for my Maimonides delivery? Yes — and we strongly recommend it. We work on an on-call structure, which means once you're booked, we're ready whenever your baby arrives. Most families book between 20 and 30 weeks.

How does the photographer get into the postpartum floor at Maimonides? You add us to your approved visitor list on admission. We'll tell you exactly what to say to make this seamless — it's a simple request the nursing staff handles regularly.

What if my labor runs long and I'm exhausted the first day? The session is entirely on your timeline. We photograph anytime in the first 48 hours. If you're not ready on day one, we come on day two. We have done this many times. We will adapt to wherever you are.

What should I have ready for the session? Very little. A clean swaddle or simple white onesie for your baby. A comfortable top for you — something you feel like yourself in. That is genuinely all you need.

How soon will I receive my gallery? Within 5 to 7 business days of your session. Rush 48-hour delivery is available if you need it sooner.

Can you photograph sibling introductions at Maimonides? Yes. If your older children are visiting during the session, we will absolutely include them.
