Fresh48 Photography at NYU Langone — Tisch Hospital, Manhattan
Some of the most beautiful sessions we've photographed have happened in the postpartum rooms at NYU Langone's Tisch Hospital.
There's something particular about those east-facing rooms on a clear morning — the light that comes through the windows is soft and warm, and the city below is just beginning to wake up, and a family is meeting themselves for the first time. We've been in that room many times. It never gets ordinary.
If you're planning to deliver at NYU Langone and you want your baby's first hours documented, this page is for you.
What a Fresh48 Session at NYU Langone Looks Like
You've delivered. You've been moved to your postpartum room at Tisch Hospital. You've had a few hours to settle — a first feed, a first rest, the monitors and the nurses and the steady rhythm of the postpartum floor finding its way around you.
When you're ready, you text us.
We arrive quietly. We introduce ourselves, check in on how you're feeling, and then we begin. We spend the next 1.5 to 2.5 hours moving around your room — photographing how the light falls on your baby's face, the way you're holding them, your partner's expressions, the small ceremonial moments that are happening whether or not there's a camera in the room.
We are not intrusive. We do not direct or pose. We work with what exists.
When we leave, you have the real record of those hours. We deliver your gallery within 5 to 7 business days.
NYU Langone Delivery and Postpartum: What to Know
NYU Langone's Tisch Hospital is home to one of Manhattan's most respected labor and delivery programs. The hospital delivers thousands of babies annually across its Manhattan campuses, and its postpartum facilities are well-regarded for their combination of medical expertise and patient-centered care.
For Fresh48 families delivering at NYU Langone, here's what matters:
Visitor access: NYU Langone's postpartum floors follow standard visitor protocols. When you're booked with us, we will guide you through how to communicate our visit to your care team on admission. The simplest method: add a note to your birth plan and mention it to your admitting nurse.
Room type: Private postpartum rooms at Tisch offer excellent conditions for photography. If you have the option to request a private room, it makes the session more relaxed — though we've made beautiful images in semi-private rooms as well.
Timing: We recommend aiming for a morning arrival for the session if your delivery allows — the natural light in Tisch's postpartum rooms is best before noon.
Fresh48 After a C-Section at NYU Langone
NYU Langone performs a large number of both planned and emergency cesarean births. If you're delivering via C-section at Tisch Hospital, your Fresh48 session absolutely goes forward — the timing simply adjusts.
Typically: your surgery ends, you spend time in the recovery room, and once you're moved to your postpartum room and feel settled, you let us know. We arrive within the hour. We photograph everything from that point forward — the first time your baby is truly in your arms, the first skin-to-skin in the postpartum room, the first quiet hours.

What Families Delivering at NYU Langone Often Ask
Can I book a Fresh48 session in advance for my delivery at NYU Langone? Yes — and we strongly encourage it. We work on an on-call basis, which means once you're booked, we're ready whenever your baby arrives. Most families book between 20 and 30 weeks. If you're already in your third trimester, reach out immediately.
How does the photographer get access to the postpartum floor at Tisch? You add us to your approved visitor list. We'll tell you exactly what to say to your care team on admission — it's a simple, routine request that the nursing staff handles regularly.
What if I deliver at a different NYU Langone location — such as NYU Langone Brooklyn? We serve multiple NYU Langone campuses. If you're delivering at NYU Langone Brooklyn, see our dedicated page for that location. If you're uncertain which campus, reach out and we'll clarify.
What if my labor takes longer than expected and I don't feel ready the first day? The session is on your timeline. The "48" in Fresh48 is the outer boundary — we can photograph anytime in the first two days. If you're exhausted on day one and feel more ready on day two, we adapt. We've photographed sessions at 8 hours old and at 40 hours old. Both are remarkable.
What should I pack for my Fresh48 session at NYU Langone? Very little. A clean swaddle blanket or simple white onesie for your baby photographs beautifully in hospital light. A comfortable top for you — something you feel like yourself in. That is genuinely all you need. We handle everything else.
What if I have a private doula or other birth workers in the room? Wonderful. We have photographed sessions alongside doulas many times and are experienced at working within a room that has multiple support people. Let us know in advance who will be there.
Can my older children be there for the session? Yes. Sibling introductions at NYU Langone are some of the most powerful moments we've photographed. If your older children are visiting during the session, we will absolutely include them.
How soon will I receive my gallery after the session? Within 5 to 7 business days of your session. Rush 48-hour delivery is available if you need it sooner.
