Maternity Photography on the Upper West Side, Manhattan

If you live on the Upper West Side, you already know what your maternity photos could look like. Central Park a few blocks east. The Hudson at sunset from Riverside Park. The wide, tree-lined streets of a neighborhood that was built to be beautiful and has stayed that way.

We photograph maternity sessions on the Upper West Side regularly. We know exactly where the best light is, which park entrances stay quiet in the early morning, and how to make these images feel like yours specifically — not like the generic Central Park maternity photos that show up on every photographer's website.

Central Park — Five Minutes from Your Door

For Upper West Side families, Central Park isn't a destination — it's an extension of the neighborhood. We treat it accordingly. Early morning sessions at Bow Bridge before the crowds. Golden hour at Sheep Meadow when the grass goes amber. The forested quiet of the Ramble, which most photographers never find.

The best session window here depends entirely on your due date and the season. We plan the timing specifically for you — which entrance to use, which spots in what order, how the light moves through each area on your session date.

Riverside Park at Sunset

Riverside Park is consistently underestimated as a maternity photography location. The promenade along the Hudson at golden hour, with the light coming off the water from the west, is genuinely extraordinary — and far less crowded than any Central Park location at the same hour. The terraced garden sections, the wide paths through the trees, the views of the New Jersey Palisades across the water — these create images that are recognizably New York without being the same Central Park photos everyone else has.

In-Home Maternity on the Upper West Side

Pre-war Manhattan apartments on the UWS often have the kind of light that photographers dream about — high ceilings, oversized windows, the particular quality of afternoon light in a west-facing living room. If you've been building a nursery, or if there's a corner of your apartment that already feels full of the anticipation of what's coming, we want to photograph it.

In-home maternity sessions on the Upper West Side are especially beautiful in fall and winter, when the afternoon light comes low and warm through west-facing windows and everything has that particular interior glow.
