Delivering at Clara Maass — What to Know
The Maternity Center has six labor-delivery-recovery (LDR) suites, where you labor, deliver and recover in the same room, plus two operating suites inside the unit for cesarean births, and private postpartum rooms. A neonatologist is on site around the clock for the Level II Special Care Nursery, which cares for babies born at 32 weeks or later; New Jersey designates Clara Maass an Intermediate community perinatal center, so babies who need a higher level of care are transferred within the RWJBarnabas network.
RWJBarnabas Health's doula policy says doulas are welcomed as part of your support network throughout labor and birth. For cesarean births, one support person joins you in the operating room. We confirm the current support-person rules with your care team before your due date.
