Elmhurst is part of NYC Health + Hospitals, with labor and delivery suites, antepartum and postpartum care, and a NICU on site. The hospital offers family access to the labor and delivery suite at the time of birth and encourages partners to take part in classes and clinical visits.
Elmhurst has held Baby-Friendly designation since 2019 and was re-designated in 2025. It also runs a free, culturally responsive doula program for its patients; a YourCherish doula adds continuous one-to-one support from early labor at home through your first postpartum hour, in your own language.
Many families at Elmhurst speak a language other than English at home, and the hospital provides interpreter services and patient materials in Spanish, Chinese and Bengali.
