Every room in the Family Birthing Center is private, with its own bathroom and shower and a chair for your support person to sleep in. Nitrous oxide is offered for labor, the hospital has its own certified nurse-midwife practice (the only one in the area), an obstetrician is on site around the clock, and the Level III NICU is run with Connecticut Children's with neonatologists available 24/7.
Nuvance Health's published maternity policy allows up to two support persons during labor, delivery and postpartum, and it states that a trained doula does not count toward that number — so your partner, a family member and your doula can all be with you. We confirm the current rules with your care team before your due date.
