Labor happens in fully equipped labor, delivery and recovery (LDR) rooms, with a four-bed triage area for evaluation before admission, an operating room on the unit for cesarean births, and an anesthesiologist on site 24 hours a day.
The hospital is a Regional Perinatal Center with a maternal-fetal medicine division that has managed thousands of high-risk pregnancies, and the neonatal team from Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital attends every high-risk delivery, so the NICU is steps away if your baby needs it.
RWJBarnabas Health welcomes a trained or certified doula as part of your support network, and its posted policy allows two visitors during labor, one of whom is a support person with round-the-clock access. Only one support person may go into the operating room for a cesarean, so we plan that with you ahead of time. We confirm the current rules with your care team before your due date.
