Delivering at Trinitas — What to Know
Labor happens in modern labor, delivery and recovery (LDR) rooms, and the hospital's posted policy allows up to two people to assist you during labor. RWJBarnabas Health welcomes a trained or certified doula as part of your support network, and we confirm the current rules with your care team before your due date.
Trinitas has a full midwifery program with a certified nurse-midwife available 24 hours a day, so families who want a low-intervention birth can plan for one with a hospital team behind them. After delivery you recover in the 20-bed postpartum unit, where every room is private.
The hospital has a Level II intermediate care nursery with a neonatologist on site around the clock. Families expecting a baby who may need a higher level of care are usually referred within the RWJBarnabas system, and we help you plan for either path.
