Family Photographer in Park Slope, Brooklyn

Park Slope has arguably the highest density of young families of any neighborhood in New York City. The playgrounds are full, the coffee shops have stroller parking, and Prospect Park is quite literally at the end of the block.

It also has some of the most beautiful family photography opportunities in the entire borough — and we have been photographing families here long enough to know exactly when and where the light is best.

Prospect Park Sessions for Park Slope Families

For families in Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, Gowanus, or anywhere in the surrounding neighborhoods, Prospect Park is the obvious first choice for outdoor family sessions — and there's a reason for that. The Long Meadow stretches wide and open with a tree line that catches golden light in the late afternoon in a way that feels genuinely cinematic. The Boathouse provides an architectural backdrop with the lake reflecting everything. The forested paths in the southern section offer dappled, quiet light that's completely different from the open meadow feel.

We recommend golden hour sessions in Prospect Park — beginning about an hour before sunset — for the warmest, most flattering light. In fall, this means arriving around 5pm. In late spring, it's closer to 7pm. We plan the timing for you.

In-Home Family Sessions in Park Slope

The brownstones and apartments of Park Slope often have extraordinary light — high ceilings, wide windows, the specific warmth of a Brooklyn Saturday morning. In-home sessions here capture something that no park can: the actual environment your family lives in.

The reading corner. The kitchen table. The kid's room that's been slowly accumulated over two years. The particular chaos of Sunday breakfast. These images are unmistakably yours — and ten years from now, when the apartment looks different and the kids are different and everything has shifted, you will want these photographs in a way that's impossible to fully explain right now.

Brooklyn Heights Promenade and DUMBO

For Park Slope families who want something more architecturally dramatic, the Brooklyn Heights Promenade and DUMBO are 20 minutes away and offer some of the most iconic New York City backdrops available. We do sunrise sessions in DUMBO — before the crowds arrive, when the cobblestones are quiet and the Manhattan Bridge arch is entirely yours — and golden hour sessions along the Promenade with the Manhattan skyline lit from the west.

Booking

Sessions are available year-round. Fall (September to November) is our most popular season for Park Slope and Prospect Park family sessions — the light is extraordinary, the temperature is comfortable, and the foliage adds color that no other season can match. These dates fill quickly, often 6 to 8 weeks in advance.

We serve Park Slope and all surrounding Brooklyn neighborhoods: Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Boerum Hill, Gowanus, Prospect Heights, Crown Heights, Windsor Terrace, Sunset Park.
