Fresh 48 photography documents your baby’s first 24 to 48 hours in the hospital: first feeds, family moments, and tiny details that exist only in those hours. We photograph Fresh 48 sessions at hospitals across New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut, within each hospital’s policies.

How much does a birth doula cost in NYC?

Experienced birth doulas in New York City and New Jersey typically charge $2,500 to $6,000, depending on experience and on what the package includes. We share our current rates on a free discovery call, and doula fees are often reimbursable through employer benefits such as Carrot or Maven, or through an HSA or FSA.

Can one person be both a birth photographer and doula?

Yes. At YourCherish, the same certified person can support your labor as your doula and document your birth as your photographer, creating a seamless and deeply personal experience.

What hospitals in NYC does YourCherish serve?

Our doulas and photographers work with families at hospitals across the five boroughs, including NYU Langone, Mount Sinai, Lenox Hill, NewYork-Presbyterian, Weill Cornell, Columbia, Montefiore, LIJ, Brooklyn Methodist and Maimonides, and at hospitals in New Jersey and Connecticut. We photograph in-home newborn sessions in Greenpoint throughout the year. The neighborhood's housing stock — a mix of Polish working-class row houses, converted warehouse apartments, and newer family-friendly buildings near the waterfront — creates an enormous variety of photographic environments.

Greenpoint apartments range from the cozy, light-filled rooms of the two-family row houses on the residential blocks east of Manhattan Avenue to the large loft-style spaces of the converted warehouses near the water. We've photographed in both, and they each create something different.

The row house apartments — often with bay windows facing south and east, original moldings, and wood floors — have a domestic warmth that feels like the inside of a storybook. The converted warehouse spaces have the scale and light quality of a professional studio while remaining completely your home. We work with what you have, and Greenpoint consistently delivers beautiful light.

McCarren Park

For families who want to combine an in-home session with a brief outdoor component, McCarren Park — on the Greenpoint-Williamsburg border — offers open lawn and mature trees that photograph well in the late afternoon. We sometimes end an in-home session with 20 to 30 minutes outdoors for fresh air and family portraits in natural park light.
