We photograph in-home newborn sessions in Greenpoint throughout the year. The neighborhood's housing stock — a mix of Polish working-class row houses, converted warehouse apartments, and newer family-friendly buildings near the waterfront — creates an enormous variety of photographic environments.

Greenpoint apartments range from the cozy, light-filled rooms of the two-family row houses on the residential blocks east of Manhattan Avenue to the large loft-style spaces of the converted warehouses near the water. We've photographed in both, and they each create something different.

The row house apartments — often with bay windows facing south and east, original moldings, and wood floors — have a domestic warmth that feels like the inside of a storybook. The converted warehouse spaces have the scale and light quality of a professional studio while remaining completely your home. McCarren Park

For families who want to combine an in-home session with a brief outdoor component, McCarren Park — on the Greenpoint-Williamsburg border — offers open lawn and mature trees that photograph well in the late afternoon. We sometimes end an in-home session with 20 to 30 minutes outdoors for fresh air and family portraits in natural park light.
