Fresh48 & Newborn Photographer Near Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn

Maimonides Medical Center in Borough Park is one of Brooklyn's largest hospitals — and one of the most diverse delivery environments in New York City. It serves an enormous range of communities: the Orthodox Jewish community of Borough Park, the Russian-speaking families of nearby Bensonhurst and Sheepshead Bay, the Chinese community of Sunset Park, and families from across southern Brooklyn.

Maimonides has a large, busy labor and delivery floor that handles a high volume of births. It's a working hospital in the fullest sense — efficient, well-staffed, and experienced. The postpartum rooms are functional and the nursing care is generally well-regarded in the Brooklyn communities it serves.

For Fresh48 sessions here, we've learned to work efficiently in smaller rooms and to anticipate a faster discharge timeline than some of the larger Manhattan hospitals. Sessions run 1.5 to 2 hours and cover everything that matters: the first holds, the first feeding, the tiny details that exist only in those first hours.

We photograph in-home newborn sessions throughout Borough Park, Bensonhurst, Sunset Park, Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Gravesend, Sheepshead Bay, and all of southern Brooklyn. These neighborhoods have their own character — the light in a Borough Park apartment, the particular morning quiet of Sheepshead Bay — and we photograph it as it is.
