Jacobi Medical Center at 1400 Pelham Parkway South is the public hospital for Pelham Parkway, Morris Park, Co-op City and the East Bronx, and in 2026 it became one of the first six hospitals in New York City certified as a Doula-Friendly Hospital.

Delivering at Jacobi — What to Know
Jacobi runs its own Midwifery Practice alongside its obstetricians, offers maternity suites you can tour before your due date, and practices 24-hour rooming-in with special visiting hours for siblings. The hospital is designated Baby-Friendly.
In August 2026 the city named Jacobi one of the first Doula-Friendly Hospitals, a recognition for integrating doulas into the maternity care team and improving communication between doulas and medical providers. In practice that means your YourCherish doula is expected and welcomed in the room.
The Bronx has the city's highest preterm birth and infant mortality rates, and fewer than 6% of Bronx births in 2025 had doula support. Continuous support through labor is one of the best-studied ways to improve outcomes. Support-person rules can change, so we confirm them before your due date.
