Delivering at Jamaica Hospital — What to Know
Labor happens in spacious, private LDR suites, and the hospital's own midwives attend births alongside obstetricians. After delivery you move to the Mother-Baby Unit, where one partner or support person can stay overnight.
Jamaica Hospital has a 19-bed Level III NICU on the second floor, so babies who need extra care stay in the same building as you. The hospital has held Baby-Friendly designation since 2017 and was re-designated in 2023, which means rooming-in and early feeding are the norm.
The hospital's Elevate Her program includes doula support and it partners with the city's Citywide Doula Initiative. A YourCherish doula adds continuous one-to-one support from early labor at home through your first postpartum hour. Support-person rules can change, so we confirm them before your due date.
